Welcome Back and Awards for 2024 Best Print and Chairman’s Challenge Competition.Creative Challenge Competition. Instructions for the challenge will be sent to members and you will be asked to submit three images by 28th August 2024.These will be critiqued by the members present and a novelty prize will be awarded to the most popular image.

Club/Competition

Summer Season Photographs. Members are asked to submit one Colour and one Monochrome and a panel producing a set of three images that:

Tell a story or run a theme.

The tonality and colour should be consistent throughout the panel.

The panel should consist of three separate images or one image chopped into three pieces.

These should come from the venues where the summer outings took place. These will be critiqued by the club members present, and scored to select Summer Competition Winner.

Workshop/Presentation

“Panorama(s) not the BBC Version” Willie Hiddleston will lead a workshop on the techniques, camera gear and post processing. Please pay attention as you may see this as a theme in one of the forthcoming club competitions. Willie will bring examples of his work and if you have examples, please either bring along a print or an image on a USB to discuss. Q&A

2nd October 2024

Photo Treasure Hunt in Dumfries Town Centre

Teams will be picked on the night. If raining there will be a quiz sheet and photographs of the places, objects or signs that correspond to the answers. Those who do not want to walk around the town can either enter as an individual or as a team dependant on numbers use the quiz sheets.

Studio Set Up to be organised by Alan McNeish with backdrops to be organised by Committee Members/volunteers. Outside shots in the immediate area.

Members to Dress Up – Guising in Scotland.

Best Costume receives a small prize

Bits & Bobs- Home Photography.  Duncan Souter will lead a workshop on setting up a small studio covering a range of topics.

Duncan will explore techniques, camera gear and post production as well as props. Q&A

Audio/ Visual Workshop on the uses that A/V's can be used to showcase your work. Presentation led by Jim Glynn utilising material from Steven Lenza and other members. Covering different cameras, post production including transitions and music. Where to publish and rules that apply. Q&A

“Painting with light” Dependant on weather, we may go to Kilnford, thank you to Maurice for letting us use the venue. Plan is to use light sticks and wire wool as in previous years. If weather is poor will use the hall in darkness using light sticks
